The James Clerk Maxwell Telescope's primary dish. The JCMT telescope observes in the submillimeter wavelengths, which are similar to the radiation emitted from common microwaves. The protective gortex sheet (the world's largest) can be seen behind the dish, and is completely transparent to submillimeter light.
