Description
Keck 2 using its 50 Watt laser on the sky. The Andromeda galaxy is just behind the laser beam. The zodiacal light is visible as a column of light emanating from the west, due to dust in the solar system reflecting sunlight. The lights of Honolulu are visible over the horizon towards the right of Keck, while the lights of Waimea can be seen below. On the left of Keck 1 is the 8-meter Subaru telescope, with JCMT further on the left in the valley.
