This is the left most panel of a 3-panel work, called a triptych.
Honolulu, the city of Aloha in the beautiful island chain of Hawai`i. Honolulu literally means "sheltered bay." The city serves as the state capital of Hawai`i, and is a major financial, military, and cultural hub of the Pacific region. Honolulu is both the westernmost and the southernmost major city in the United States, and is the main gateway into Hawai`i as well as the U.S. It has the highest population density than anywhere else in the archipelago.
The photo encompasses a sweeping 120 degree view of the entire southern leeward side of O`ahu. Kapolei and KoOlina are on the left, with the streak of a plane landing visible in the skies above it. A brief background - I was born and raised in southern California, and went to school there until I completed my high school education. I then attended the University of California at Berkeley, where I received my Bachelors degree in physics and astrophysics.
